"J.Walker captivated my UCLA Sociology of Education class with his
discussion of Rhymecology! It's a remarkable way to get education to really
work."
- Terri Anderson, Ph.D, Professor of Sociology of Education at UCLA.
"As a counselor and word master, J has brought to us a new model of reading our world with healing gifts for the problems we are all facing across all ages and race boundaries."
- Chaplain Carol Bamesberger, Director of the Angel Connection.
"Life changing concept... reflecting the maturity of hip hop, and Jeff was great... Calm, 'real', and a clear visionary."
- Jamie Ballard, Entertainment Psychologist, PH.D
"J.Walker has an incredible knowledge about Hip Hop and lyrics."

- MC 13, Philadelphia Hip Hop Artist
"It was a delightful experience with J.Walker performing for our kids in the gym. He was very inspirational and engaging in his performance aspect of his presentation,
and then broke the performance down into an interaction teaching methods of expressing themselves poetically and through rhythmic phonetics. It was a delightful experience.
I had the opportunity to witness him dealing with some oppositional behaviors in a very classic format as far as those who are trained to deal with oppositional defiance. He took a negative moment that a client exhibited and turned it into a positive by
assigning him a task that assisted in the overall presentation. That in of itself indicated to me that J.Walker is quite the professional when it comes to presenting a poetic expressive workshop for at risk youth."
-
Tom Ball - represents music therapy dept at Casa Pasifica.
"J. gave a wonderful performance and work session with the kids and it
was a really good opportunity to hear someone expressing themselves through rhythm and rhyme but also to be able to do that themselves"
-
Jill Ball - music therapist at Casa Pasifica

"J has assembled a unique blend of the timeless with contemporary atoms to create a powerful and much needed new molecule. His visionary alchemy opens new doors into the box hip hop has become."
- Steve Wood, Platinum composer and producer
"J. WALKER’S Rhymecology CD
is an inspired collection of poetry and rap over cool contemporary hip-hop grooves with fresh positive messages that reach out to people who like to ride the edge of creativity and experience. J’s “slice of life” rhymes and his professional work with people
at risk and prisoners shows in his ability to relate to their life styles in a supportive but not preachy way. His voice is unique, not a rapper wannabe or copycat, but is instead very authentic. I find the way he strings his rhymes with sensual enjoyment
and abandon is a joy to listen to."
- David Cat Cohen, Pro Songwriter, Songwriting Master Class Director, UCLA Westwood, CA
“J.Walker
is tight. I have known this guy since he was shocking the L.A. underground with
his lyrics."
- Chris Loos, DJ for 93.5 K-Day (12-3pm)
"In
listening to J.Walker's spiritually conscious hip-hop CD you will be touched
with his depth and his lyrical prowess. By not falling into any current rap
traps, he stays true to the one thing we all should, the soul! Watch out for
this young man..."
- Terence Yallop, President and CEO of Real Music.
"J.Walker
is what this industry needs...an artist with depth beyond belief and a very
conscious outlook, while still holding the knowledge of old school hip hop. His
personal vulnerability could be what sets him apart in the long run."
- Michael Miller, critic, First Rate Entertainment.
"Rhymecology is outside the
box and wherever J.Walker is, that’s where we should be.”
- Kom Farhang, Good Vibe Recordings.
"Those that give...live." This debut album adventure, J.Walker's, "Rhymecology (2006)", dives head first into music, rhyme, beats, visuals and voices
intellectualizing mystical observations, spiritual yet relatable messages for those ready to take off in a hip hop or funky groove style. J.Walker raps intensely yet loving, powerful yet compassionate in delivery. "You're not too young to change the earth"
on the playful "Shine", a danceable track with musical textures and backing vocal by incomparable Maureen Doherty, belting a chorus behind J's soulful word structuring "don't be afraid to shine your light, oh no." This is an album that may not be easy
to digest at first... it's a genre a lot of us are not familiar with, but by jumping up and down in your head and listening to the "flow" you grow. Take the track "Uniqueness", "Don't take your uniqueness for granted…Don't let the new branches replace the
original roots that were planted, you see we're all a part of the universal energy on this planet, so unless your whole soul knows exactly what you're about…nobody else is gonna understand it. In other words…don't sell out." J talks about a lot of
subjects that don't make the top 10 (anorexia, therapy, ancient wisdom), but this album definitely deserves a 10 for message, concept and rhythm. This is Intelligent Rap - hopefully just the beginning. Highlight tracks: "An Album With Everything On it", "Best
Damn Sports Story", "Photograph", "Inspiration" and "Shine". Time for a slice of pizza.'

live reviews
J. Walker, with a powerful spoken word set brought it back flawlessly, keepin'
it real while still transcending the boundaries of the 'Stick, swinging the
energy from the stage back into ourselves, as his words provided a point of
reflection. How we as artists & listeners perceive
what's happening on stage, sometimes putting it all together with one common
phrase that can make everyone smile.

Live Review from Harmony Festival:
(to see the Harmony Festival one sheet, click on pic)
"It isn't often that I enjoy watching Hip Hop or Rap artists but yesterday certainly shifted by point of view on many levels, but most of it was due to a young artist, J.Walker, who is emerging from being a top Spoken Word performer to the
world of Hip Hop, backed by the incomparable gilli moon on keyboard and the legendary Radio Active doing beat box. While J only had 15 minutes on
stage, each minute packed a wallop of energy, emotion and spiritual insights with his rap that touched on the positive side of life, channeling a teacher from time’s past.
Beginning with "Balance of Life" from his recently released cd, "Rhymecology", J and gilli were totally in balance and I forgot I was listening to a genre of music I long ago swore wasn't my style - but I found myself
and others in attendance, dancing, tapping our feet and moving to the rhythms... J next did a spoken word poem, "Inspiration", that had everyone still, listening to his words of wisdom as though channeling a teacher from time's past. Then the
cool set brought back out gilli moon on keys, and a guest Beat Box champ, Radio Active, and the 3 then closed the 15 minute set with "Why I Cry", which is so tender, and with J's words educating, and gilli moon's gentle yet powerful vocals
questioning "I don't know why, I cry", I felt a big lump in my throat - not for me - but for all of humanity - because
J.Walker is an artist who's got an empathic way of taking on the weight of the world but letting us know it's ok to let go, to step into the light. The crowd roared with approval after each song, and long after the beauty of the music
ended. Thank you J.Walker - may the world hear your words and learn about your new perspective called Rhymecology."

Live fan feedback
"It was so much fun being there with you watching you do what you do so well. I loved all of your pieces and your stage presence was terrific. You looked so at ease and at home. It was a very
inspiring performance. The accompaniment of Conroe, Maureen, P.K., Henri, Andy and Luke were just great. And of course, Gilli, who was the maestro behind the scenes as well as riveting on the stage. Her energy is contagious. I was looking forward
to it for weeks. I hope I live a long time so I can be with you as you develop your extraordinary gift."
'Such a great job, such a fun evening, we had a wonderful time and couldn’t be happier or prouder of you. I loved the setting for your album launch, and I loved the
support you got from friends and artists. It was great fun to watch Gilli in action too…she was meant for the stage, no? All the performers were just wonderful. I didn’t get to say good bye to Maureen who was also amazing…and so generous with her
kind words. It was great to meet everyone. I hope today you both are basking in the glow of the evening. Such a well put together event. Bravo, Bravisimo!!"
